FAQ

Questions people actually ask

What do they cost?

Pocket Nerd — Free for your first 25 entries, then $3.99 per phone, once, for this major version. LedgerKeep — $39 once for this major version. 14-day evaluation, then read-only until you license it. Both are one purchase for a major version, on every platform that version supports, with point releases included. Neither is on sale yet.

Can I buy either app today?

No, and nothing on this site pretends otherwise. There is no store listing open for either app and no checkout built, so every buy button and store badge here is deliberately switched off. The prices are written down now so they are not a surprise when the doors do open.

Really one-time? No subscription?

Really. You pay once for a major version and license it for as long as you like. Point releases within that major version are included. If a future major version is worth paying for again, I will say so plainly and price the upgrade lower for existing licensees.

Why sell on Google Play and here?

That is the plan for when sales open, not something you can do yet. Google Play is where most phones look first, and its purchase flow is familiar. Buying here will get you the same app with a licence key, keep the desktop versions in one place, and let me offer a refund directly. Same product, same price, your choice.

What is the difference between Pocket Nerd and LedgerKeep?

The short version is the rule I built them to: Pocket Nerd owns “what can I spend today”, LedgerKeep owns the books. Pocket Nerd is the short session between now and payday — one spending gauge, four themed interfaces, optional risk-weighted games for a stuck purchase. LedgerKeep is the permanent campaign history: accounts, register, budget, reports, reconciliation, debt battles and plain-text books. A finished Pocket Nerd period can be handed to LedgerKeep for review instead of typed in twice.

Are these games pretending to give financial advice?

No. Pocket Nerd’s games are for entertainment purposes only. Their difficulty reacts to the real budget impact, warning and danger projections require acknowledgment, and a lucky “yes” never means a purchase is affordable. The person holding the phone always decides.

What makes the apps “nerdy”?

Both offer Simple, HUD, Tranquil, and Campaign interfaces. Pocket Nerd adds Coin Flip, Target, D20, and Daisy Oracle purchase-decision games. LedgerKeep turns each debt into a boss fight and rates your financial readiness as a character level — but every number in both is read straight off the ledger, and nothing rewards you for spending. The game layer sits on top of real double-entry bookkeeping; that is the point of it, not a coat of paint.

What happens to my data?

It stays on your devices, in files you can read without me. The apps have no accounts and send nothing anywhere. Sync between your own devices happens on your own network. This site runs self-hosted analytics with no cookies and no third parties.

Which platforms?

Pocket Nerd runs on Android. LedgerKeep runs on Android, Linux, Windows, and macOS. That is what the apps support, not what you can download — no build of either is published anywhere yet. iOS versions are planned; I do not sell what does not exist yet.

What about updates?

Point releases are free within a major version. On Google Play they will arrive through the store. For direct purchases, the app tells you when a new release is available and you download it from your order.

Can I get a refund?

There is nothing to refund yet. Once direct purchases open they carry a 30-day money-back guarantee: write to me and I will refund it, no form to fill in. Google Play purchases are refunded through Google under its policy.
